Asbestos in CBD buildings
Asbestos was used widely in commercial construction until the 1980s, and many CBD buildings have been refurbished several times since. That leaves asbestos in places tenants rarely see: ceiling tiles and textured ceilings, vinyl floor tiles and adhesives, pipe and boiler lagging in plant rooms, fire doors, risers and old switchboards.
Before any fit-out or refurbishment, building owners and businesses that manage or control a workplace must identify asbestos and manage it under the Health and Safety at Work (Asbestos) Regulations 2016. We carry out the testing, prepare for removal, isolate the work area – vents, ducts and furniture covered – and remove the asbestos with minimal disruption.
Working in the city
CBD jobs come with tight access, loading-zone rules and neighbours on every side. We plan deliveries and waste removal around the building’s schedule and can work nights and weekends when needed.
