Residential Asbestos Removal Auckland

If your Kiwi home was built before 2000, it may contain asbestos. JP Franklin has provided residential asbestos removal across Auckland for more than ten years. We inspect and test, isolate the work area away from your family, remove the asbestos with industry-grade respiratory and safety equipment, dispose of it at a licensed facility, clean up thoroughly – and can replace what we remove, from a new roof to new cladding or ceilings.

Keep your home safe with local asbestos removal

What’s the first word that comes to mind when you think of your home? We’d bet it’s “safe”. But if your home dates back to before the 1990s, it could contain asbestos, which poses a risk to your health and your family’s. Your first step should be to call professional asbestos removers – not to remove it yourself.

A dream team of residential asbestos removal experts

At JP Franklin, we’ve dedicated ourselves to creating the safest process for each removal, no matter the size of the home. Our staff are knowledgeable, friendly and trained to communicate transparently. We come well equipped and prepared to get the job done right every time, without leaving any trace of our work behind.

Where we find asbestos in homes

  • Roofing – Super Six, Decramastic tiles and fibre-cement shingles
  • Cement cladding, wall sheets, soffits, louvre blades and side flashings
  • Textured ceilings, vinyl flooring and wet-area linings
  • Pipe insulation and hot-water-cupboard linings
  • Water tanks, cement downpipes and fences

The safest removal methods

  • We cordon off the hazardous area before removal begins, protecting anyone nearby from breathing in fibres.
  • We use the right equipment and wet methods to carry out a meticulous removal.
  • We clean up thoroughly so you aren’t exposed to fibres after we leave.

Full remediation, not just removal

We’re able to fully remediate anything we remove – a new roof, new wall cladding, ceilings or interiors. As roofing specialists we’re a one-stop shop for inspection, testing, removal or repair, and disposal.

When removal is complete, the property owner receives the relevant clearance and disposal documentation confirming the work was done safely.

FAQ

Residential Asbestos Removal: common questions

Can’t see your question? Call us or send a message – we’re happy to help.

Does my 1970s Auckland house have asbestos?

It's quite likely. Homes built or renovated between the 1940s and the late 1990s commonly contain asbestos in roofing (Super Six or Decramastic), cladding, soffits, textured ceilings, vinyl flooring and wet-area linings. Testing confirms where.

Is asbestos dangerous if it isn't disturbed?

Intact, non-friable asbestos that isn't being disturbed is generally low risk. The danger comes when it deteriorates or is drilled, cut, sanded, broken or water-blasted – which is why you should test before any renovation or maintenance.

Can I stay in my home during asbestos removal?

For most exterior work – roofs, cladding, fences – yes, with windows and doors closed and the work area off limits. For interior or friable removals you may need to stay elsewhere until clearance. We'll tell you in advance.

Do you work with insurance companies?

Yes. We regularly work alongside insurers, property managers and builders, and can provide photos and reports to support a claim.
