Asbestos in South Auckland
South Auckland’s suburbs expanded rapidly from the 1950s to the 1970s, with large state-housing developments in places such as Ōtara, Māngere, Ōtāhuhu and Papatoetoe, and private subdivisions across Manurewa and Papakura. Decramastic tile roofs, Super Six roofs and asbestos cement soffits are very common.
The area’s industrial heartlands – Wiri and East Tāmaki – have many warehouses and factories with asbestos roofing and cladding.
Recent work in the south
In Papatoetoe we replaced dented Decramastic tiles around a leak on a family home in a single day. Larger jobs include full asbestos roof replacements and commercial re-roofs, all handled by our own crews.
