Why asbestos disposal matters
Removing asbestos is only half the job. Waste that is dumped, mixed with general rubbish or broken up in a skip keeps releasing fibres – exposing transport workers, landfill staff and the community – and can lead to prosecution. WorkSafe’s Approved Code of Practice requires asbestos waste to be contained, labelled and disposed of at a licensed facility.
How we dispose of asbestos
- Wet the material to suppress dust.
- Wrap each piece in heavy-duty polythene – double-wrapped and sealed with tape.
- Label every package as asbestos waste.
- Transport in a covered vehicle, with no loose material.
- Dispose at a facility licensed to accept asbestos.
- Document – you get disposal dockets for your property records, insurer or council file.
Disposal as part of every job
Disposal is built into every asbestos roof removal, cladding removal and garage or shed removal we carry out – there’s no separate contractor and nothing left on site.
