WorkSafe diagram of asbestos locations in an industrial building

Quick answer

In homes, asbestos is most often found in roofing, cladding, soffits, textured ceilings, vinyl flooring and wet-area linings. In industrial buildings, look for roofing, cladding, pipe and boiler lagging, fire doors, gaskets and floor tiles. Anything built or renovated before 2000 should be checked before work starts.

Many people know that asbestos can be found in old roofs but asbestos can lurk in many places that most of us are unfamiliar with. If you are unsure you have asbestos in your home or industrial/commercial building, contact a licensed asbestos professional such as our team at JP Franklin Asbestos, for advice, inspection, and testing. Do not attempt to inspect or remove asbestos by yourself. Asbestos becomes dangerous if it is displaced and becomes airborne.
